As per Wikipedia, “To the nines” is an idiom meaning “to perfection” or “to the highest degree”. The phrase commonly appears as “dressed to the nines” or “dressed up to the nines”.

My granddaughter Makayla (shown in above images) is the model for the oil on canvas painting “Dancing to the Nines”, a color collage arranged to produce both flat and three-dimensional surfaces within the same composition. The collage effect consists of nine instances of three shapes. Nine equidistant concentric shapes extend from the center of the painting to the edge to create a flat effect. Nine oval shapes also extend from the center of the painting and radiate out to the edge to further flatten the composition. A checkered table consisting of nine rows and nine columns is set 8 inches from the top of the painting with the fifth column at the center line of the painting. The table extends forward to the base of the painting and creates the contrasting three-dimensional effect. The subject of the painting is literally dancing to the nines.
